My 43 Yr Old Marantz Is Now a Bluetooth Receiver

I recently purchased a Marantz 2015 stereo receiver. This thing was built in 1974-75. It’s is a great sounding work of art. It’s a beautiful machine.
I play music from my iPhone 6S through the receiver with an RCA cable hooked up to the 2015’s tape 1 input. I wanted to cut the cord. So, based on reviews I bought the B06 BT receiver. I plugged it in. Turned it on. My phone found it immediately.
I plugged it into the 2015’s “switched” outlet in it’s back. So, when I turn off the unit the B06 also turns off.
Easy peasy.
So far it works really well.

This Bluetooth Receiver, Hi-Fi Wireless Audio Adapter, 1Mii Bluetooth 4.2 Adapter with 3D Surround aptX Low Latency for Home Music Streaming Stereo System (Upgraded Version with Power Adapter) is a truly excellent Bluetooth receiver.

Formerly I had a computer attached to my Logitech Compact Speaker System Z320 for Notebooks which are excellent powered speakers (though they have been discontinued and you do not want to buy them now at the insanely high price dealers are asking).

Because of certain aesthetics in our home, my wife wanted me to get rid of that computer and install a Bluetooth receiver in its place. (The speakers are in our foyer and she detested that a computer was installed there. I guess I can’t blame her. The computer really did look out of place.)

So, in the spirit of “a happy wife is a happy life,” I ordered this Bluetooth receiver from Amazon the other day and I am very glad that I did.

The sound produced from those speakers is at least the equal of what I heard via the computer and the ease of use, convenience, and aesthetics of having a Bluetooth receiver instead of a computer in our foyer is much more acceptable to her.

This particular receiver has Bluetooth 4.2 plus AptX. Regarding sound quality over Bluetooth transmission at this time, that’s as good as it gets.

Setup could not have been easier. I didn’t even look at the instructions (which are written in “Chinglish”) until after I had the unit up and running.

I connect its power supply to a switched outlet. When I activate the outlet, this receiver turns on instantly.

First pairing was almost instantaneous. (And, as with most other devices of this type, you only have to initially pair it one time. Then it “remembers” your connection.)

And now the connection to my cell phone is automatic and occurs practically instantly.

Reception is excellent, as good as with any other Bluetooth receiver I own (and I own quite a few of them).

There are two “levels” of sound quality. When the large round LED shows blue, that is “regular” sound. When the “3D” button is pressed the LED glows green and the sound is enhanced. I have been using the 3D effect exclusively. To my ears, it sound better that way. (You, of course, may disagree.)

Though I am currently using this particular Bluetooth receiver in our foyer with different powered computer speakers ( Samson MediaOne M30 3″ Powered Studio Monitors (Pair) which sound much better than the Logitechs ([and are connected via AmazonBasics 2-Male to 2-Male RCA Audio Cable – 4 Feet , a capability that not all Bluetooth modules have]), it can be used with just about any audio system. It comes complete with cords enabling attachment to 3.5mm devices as well as to those, such as a receiver (any my amplified speakers), which have RCA connections. (I tried it temporarily with my ‘main’ sound system, which consists of, among other things, a Yamaha A-S701BL Natural Sound Integrated Stereo Amplifier (Black) ‘feeding’ a pair of Klipschorns, and it produced sound quality indistinguishable from the ‘higher-end’ AudioTech Bluetooth receiver I use in that system.)

It has no internal battery; it operates via AC power only. Its power cord is such that it can be use in a car via the car’s powered USB port or with a ENERGIZER 120W Cup Inverter 12V DC cigarette lighter to 120V AC to power laptop notebook & more w/ 4 USB ports 2.1A shared compatible with iPad & more or a Car Charger Quick Charge 3.0 RAVPower 40W 3A Car Adapter with Dual QC USB Ports for iPhone X / 8 / 8 Plus, iPad Pro 2017, Google Pixel, Sumsung Galaxy Note 8 / S9 / S8 / S8 Plus / S7 and More . So while it has no battery, it can still be used almost anywhere. It can even be powered via one of those Anker 2nd-Gen Astro E5 High-Capacity 16750mAh 3A Portable External Battery Charger with PowerIQ Technology for iPhone, iPad, Nintendo Switch and More or similar.

What more can I say? It is a superb piece of equipment and I like it very much (plus my wife is pleased too) and I give it my highest recommendation.

Works…sort of BETTER THAN I COULD’VE IMAGINED!!!

Review:
Some may remember or read my initial review of this product and that I was not terribly impressed. Well, that was before the seller offered to provide me with a replacement unit and I’m so glad that they did — and that I gave it another try. Long story short: This is a remarkable device that takes up such a small footprint. Color me IMPRESSED. The quality of sound when driven thru the provided RCA-cables was/is quite excellent (see video).

Setup involved connecting the 1Mii unit to my Receiver phono inputs via the RCA (red/white) cables and my iPad via Bluetooth and driving the sound out thru my Boston Acoustics CS 23 speakers via 12 AWG solid copper wire (definitely don’t skimp on the wire).
I selected a video/song from Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, “The Lion the Beast the Beat”. If you haven’t heard it or them, I suggest you give it a listen. The video can be found on Vevo and YouTube, but I digress.

The sound quality out of the RCA jacks is NOT distorted at all and is very pleasing as you will hear.
It’s all the more impressive considering I’m playing music from my iPad channeled WIRELESSLY through the 1Mii B06 Plus device and driving it thru my Receiver to my wired audio speakers. I am quite and thoroughly satisfied. Well done!

Works exactly as advertised. I use it inside and outside to run a modified 1967 jukebox. It is impossible to tell the difference in sound quality between a direct connection and this BT device. I use a noise filter, but I am not certain it is needed for this receiver. The filter is mainly used to filter out noise from the florescent lights inside the jukebox. Over the last 3 years, I have tried several different manufactures of BT receivers and this is the best yet.

Leider kommen hier auch im aktuellen Modell keine aktuellen BT-Technologien zum Einsatz, welche bekanntermaßen ab Version 4 bereits einen signifikant geringeren Energiebedarf zur Aufrechterhaltung der Verbindung haben. Außerdem wollte ich vermeiden für einen weiteren Netzstecker Platz schaffen zu müssen. Daher habe ich mich für dieses Gerät entschieden.

Sound quality is decent after all bluetooth is not the best for high quality audio anyways. Set up was fairly simple however if more then 1 device in the home has bluetooth enabled it will default to a random connection half the time and not the one that is connected eg closest to it only way to fix this is to power cycle the B06+ which can be annoying if its tucked away out of sight.

Volume control is not the best either.

Range is good if in Line of Sight but the moment you take your phone out of the room about a 50% chance it will stay connected with the same audio quality often it breaks up.

Would not recommend this product if used in commercial space or appartment building. As anyone can connect without the ablity to set a password.

Q:Cuts volume by about 40% ? Amazon wont let me review it due to lightning deal.
A:I have the very same problem. Before anyone jumps to a conclusion, here is my setup. B06 plugged into SONOS Play 5 powered speaker with iPhone X streaming directly over Bluetooth. Just switched out the B06 for another brand’s streamer and no problem using normal volume settings… Using the B06 I have to quadruple the normal volume setting to get anything useable. And, yes, my Bluetooth source volume on my phone is turned up to max.

Sound quality is very good, but having to juggle sound settings is very inconvenient and would prevent me from recommending this product.
Q:Does this supply audio output to both outputs (RCA and 3.5mm) simultaneously?
A:Saw question & got curious so… Plugged a pr of cheap headphones into the 3.5mm jack while simultaneously connected to a stereo & played a song using Pandora. The volume of stereo was immediately cut by around 50% & the sound level in headphones was really low.
Q:does this one auto shutdown if not used for some hours?
A:You have to shut it off or it sits there and searches for a Bluetooth signal. It will auto connect with whatever device is available. I leave mine on so I can just auto connect when I walk into the house for music from my phone.
Q:can i send my music on my pc to my stereo with this device…and if yes how it work. Thanks in advance.
A:You can if your computer has bluetooth – just pair your computer to the device and have the device connected to your stereo, assuming that your stereo takes extra inputs such as aux, tuner or CD type inputs.
